Chicago White Sox Catcher Korey Lee Scratched From Lineup Due to Back Injury

White Sox Catcher Korey Lee Out 4-8 Weeks With Back Injury

Chicago White Sox catcher Korey Lee has been scratched from the lineup due to a back injury. The injury occurred during Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Lee was scheduled to catch Lucas Giolito on Sunday but was replaced by Seby Zavala.

The White Sox have not yet announced the severity of Lee's injury, but manager Tony La Russa said that Lee is expected to miss 4-8 weeks.

Injury a Blow to White Sox

Lee's injury is a blow to the White Sox, who are already without catcher Yasmani Grandal. Grandal is on the injured list with a knee injury and is not expected to return until after the All-Star break.

With Lee and Grandal out, the White Sox will likely rely on Zavala and Jake Burger to handle the catching duties.

Lee Has Been a Bright Spot for White Sox

Lee has been a bright spot for the White Sox this season. The 23-year-old is batting .273 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 59 games.

Lee has also been solid behind the plate, throwing out 11 of 25 attempted base stealers.

White Sox Still in Contention

Despite the injuries to Lee and Grandal, the White Sox are still in contention for the American League Central division title.

The White Sox are currently 47-44, 3.5 games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins.
