Constant Honking Disrupts Sleep and Safety

San Francisco residents in the South of Market neighborhood are facing a nocturnal disturbance caused by Waymo driverless cars. The cars have been honking repeatedly at late hours, disrupting sleep and raising safety concerns.

One affected resident, Sophia Tung, described the situation. "The cars come and go at all hours, sometimes arriving as late as 4 am," she said. "Lately, the cars have been honking at each other, which is incredibly disturbing."

The honking has become a nightly occurrence, with residents complaining of multiple honks per hour. The noise is particularly jarring in the quiet hours of the night, disrupting sleep and creating a sense of unease in the neighborhood.

In addition to the noise pollution, residents are also concerned about the safety implications of the honking. "The cars often honk when they are crossing intersections, which is dangerous because it could startle pedestrians or cyclists," said another resident, who asked to remain anonymous.

The ongoing issue has prompted residents to reach out to Waymo and city officials in search of a solution. Waymo has yet to respond to requests for comment, and the city is currently investigating the situation.
